What EOM means

EOM stands for "end of month". With an EOM term, the payment clock starts at the end of the month in which the invoice is dated, not on the invoice date itself. This lets a customer batch all of a month's invoices into one payment run.

Conventions vary, and EOM is one of the terms most often written loosely. In this calculator:

Some industries read "Net 30 EOM" as 30 days after month end, and some older trade practice has invoices dated after the 25th treated as next month's. If your contract defines EOM differently, follow the contract.

Worked examples (United States holidays)

Notice that any invoice dated in October gets the same EOM due date. That is the point of the term: the exact invoice date within the month does not matter.

EOM with an early-payment discount

Terms such as "2/10 EOM" give a discount if paid within 10 days after the end of the month. The calculator handles these too; for example an invoice dated December 10, 2026 under 2/10 EOM has a discount deadline of Sunday, January 10, 2027, moved to Monday, January 11, 2027, and a net due date of Saturday, January 30, 2027, moved to Monday, February 1, 2027. In this calculator the net period for 2/10 EOM is 30 days after month end. See the 2/10 Net 30 discount calculator for more on discount terms, or the Net 30 calculator for terms counted from the invoice date.

The same calculation is available as a JSON API, so you can run it inside an accounting, ERP or workflow system. Get a free API key (1,000 requests a month) or read the OpenAPI spec.

Holiday data comes from an open-source dataset and may be incomplete, especially for regional, ad-hoc or newly declared holidays. Check legally or financially critical deadlines against an official source.

Frequently asked questions

What does EOM mean on an invoice?

End of month. Payment is due at the end of the month in which the invoice is dated, or N days after it for terms like EOM+15.

What is EOM+15?

Payment is due 15 calendar days after the end of the invoice month. For an invoice dated October 15, 2026 that is November 15, moved to Monday, November 16 because the 15th is a Sunday.

Does the invoice date matter for EOM terms?

Only the month matters. Every invoice dated in the same month gets the same EOM due date.

Is "Net 30 EOM" the same as EOM+30?

It is commonly read that way, but conventions differ by industry and contract. Follow the definition in your agreement.
