How it counts

The start date is not counted. The calculator moves forward one day at a time and counts only days that are not a Saturday, Sunday, public holiday for the selected country and region, or a company holiday you list. The day the count reaches your number is the result. This matches how Excel's WORKDAY function counts.

Worked example (United States holidays)

10 business days after Friday, November 20, 2026 is Monday, December 7, 2026. Three weekends and Thanksgiving (November 26) are skipped. (Prefilled above.)

Need to go backwards?

Enter a negative number, or see subtract business days from a date. To count the working days between two dates instead, use the business days calculator.

The same calculation is available as a JSON API, so you can run it inside an accounting, ERP or workflow system. Get a free API key (1,000 requests a month) or read the OpenAPI spec.

Holiday data comes from an open-source dataset and may be incomplete, especially for regional, ad-hoc or newly declared holidays. Check legally or financially critical deadlines against an official source.
