How business-day terms work

A business-day term such as "Net 30 business days" or "Net 30 BD" counts only days that are not weekends or public holidays. The invoice date is not counted; the first business day after it is day 1. Because weekends and holidays are already skipped, the result always lands on a business day and is never moved again.

Worked example (United States holidays)

Invoice dated Monday, November 2, 2026: counting 30 business days skips eight weekend days in November, four in December, Veterans Day (November 11) and Thanksgiving (November 26). The due date is Wednesday, December 16, 2026. Compare with plain Net 30, which gives December 2, 2026.

Other lengths

Type any number followed by BD in the payment term box, for example Net 10 BD or Net 45 BD. To add or subtract working days from any date (not just an invoice), use the add business days calculator.

The same calculation is available as a JSON API, so you can run it inside an accounting, ERP or workflow system. Get a free API key (1,000 requests a month) or read the OpenAPI spec.

Holiday data comes from an open-source dataset and may be incomplete, especially for regional, ad-hoc or newly declared holidays. Check legally or financially critical deadlines against an official source.

Frequently asked questions

How long is 30 business days?

Usually about six calendar weeks, longer when holidays fall in the period.

Is Net 30 the same as Net 30 business days?

No. Net 30 counts calendar days and is about a month; Net 30 BD counts working days only.

Does the result get moved if it falls on a holiday?

No. A business-day count only ever lands on a business day, so no adjustment is needed.
